Kate Bush – Running Up That Hill
Running Up That Hillwas the lead single from Kate Bush’s 1985 album Hounds of Love and, while I admit I may have been influenced by the single’s cover art, I have been a fan of Kate Bush ever since I first heard it. There are a lot of other Kate Bush fans out there; Amazon has over 50 different covers of this single on MP3.
For those of you too young to remember, before CDs existed we had these things called records. They were made of plastic or vinyl and were played by placing a needle onto the spinning disc. The 7″ & 12″ notation on this postcard refers to the sizes of the discs on which this single was available. Since CDs were just starting to become commercially available, I did buy the CD version of this album — but the remixes and extended versions were only published on 12″ vinyl. I still have several of the 12″ singles from this album; I need to rip them to MP3.
On the back of this card — made in France, oddly enough — there’s just a hint of the glue from the masking tape that I had used to secure it (along with other music-related ephemera) to the wall. You didn’t expect me to put thumbtacks in it, did you?
