Güvercin Adası, Kuşadası

This is one of a set of postcard scenes of Anatolia that I picked up in Turkey, around 1990. It shows a night scene of the castle on Güvercin Adası (goo-vair’-jin ah’-da-suh, “Dove Island”), which is really a peninsula off the Aegean resort town of Kuşadası (koosh-ah’-da-suh, “Bird Island”), Turkey.

State House, Dover, Delaware

“The original construction began in 1787 and was completed in 1792. The original structure was remodeled in 1835, 1873, 1909, and 1925. The building was restored in 1972 and 1976 and stands on the site of the 1722 Court House rededicated July 3, 1976. The State House is located on the green.” Published by the Traub Company of Baltimore, Maryland.

This very nice Soviet postcard of the Russian Museum in Leningrad was printed in the USSR in 1976. I could tell you where I got it, but then I’d have to kill you.

Leningrad: Russian Museum (Back)

From the arrangement of the printing on the back (and the lack of a stamp box), it’s not clear that this is actually intended to be a postcard — though it is of the proper size and card stock. Perhaps, if you were mailing it from the USSR, the printing on the left is intended to discourage you from writing a personal message — which would probably have been censored anyway.
